Accessibility on Gyfts

Short answer

Clients can filter the directory by sign language and access needs, and see what each practitioner or organization offers on their profile. Practitioners and organizations add this under Public Profile, then Accessibility. Gyfts itself works with a keyboard and has light and dark themes.

For clients

  • Find someone who fits. In the directory, open Filters, then Accessibility, and tick what you need. You'll only see practitioners who offer everything you ticked.
  • The accessibility icon on a card means the practitioner works in a sign language or offers communication support such as lip-reading, Braille, captions, large print or a hearing loop.
  • On a profile, the Accessibility panel lists what they offer. No panel means they haven't said, not that they can't, so ask them.
  • On an organization's page, look under Plan your visit. Accessibility lists sign languages and communication support; Facilities lists physical access, such as a step-free entrance or an accessible toilet.
  • Say what you need. Add it to Your notes when you book, or message the practitioner first.

For practitioners

  1. Open it. In your menu, open Public Profile, then Accessibility.
  2. Add sign languages. Suggestions for your country come first; select Add sign language to search them all.
  3. Tick what you offer: Braille available, Captioned, Hearing loop, Large print, Lip-reading friendly or Step-free access. Only tick what you genuinely offer.
  4. Save. Only what you tick appears on your profile; nothing is ever shown as unavailable.

For organizations

Open Public Profile, then Accessibility. There are three parts, saved together:

  • Physical access: step-free entrance, lift or elevator, accessible treatment room, accessible toilet, assistance animals welcome. Be specific: "wheelchair access" alone doesn't say whether someone can use the toilet.
  • Sign language support.
  • Accessibility accommodations, such as captions, large print or a hearing loop.

Owners and managers can edit this; other roles can view it.

Using Gyfts itself

  • Themes: Settings, then Appearance: Original, Obsidian (dark) or Champagne.
  • Keyboard: every page starts with a Skip to main content link, and focus is always visible.
  • Motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, Gyfts follows it.
  • Problems? Read our Accessibility statement, and tell us through the contact form with the page, what you were doing, and the browser or assistive technology you use.
